As an artist, one of the most common questions I receive is how long it takes me to create an illustration. However, the truth is that it’s difficult to give a straightforward answer because it truly depends on various factors like the size and complexity of the piece. Sometimes a simple sketch can take just a few minutes, while others require hours, days, or even months of dedication.<\/p>

Larger or more detailed illustrations typically take significantly more time to complete, as every element must be carefully crafted and considered. Even once a piece is complete, an artist might continue to make adjustments and refinements over the course of years, perfecting and evolving the image as they go.<\/p>

Ultimately, creating an illustration is a challenging and rewarding process that is difficult to quantify in terms of time alone. My favorite projects are usually the ones that take longer to produce, such as books, stories, and fairy tales. Two of my favorites are picture books: “9 Minutes of Sunset,” a lovely story about time and love, and “When You Find a Cat” (Ko Najde\u0161 Ma\u010dko), a huge project I did with one of the biggest cat shelters in Slovenia, Cat House.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I print at home, I use a\u00a0 Canon pixma iP8700 series printer for printing, and I prefer to use art paper for my prints. The high-quality prints that this printer produces, combined with the texture and weight of art paper, gives my printed images a stunning, professional look. Original artwork is a one-of-a-kind piece that was created directly by the artist using various materials such as paint, charcoal, or pencil on a canvas, paper, or other substrate. It is unique and cannot be replicated, and typically commands a higher price than a print.<\/p>

A print, on the other hand, is a reproduction of an original artwork, typically made using a digital printing technique. Prints can be produced in large quantities and are usually more affordable than original artworks. Some prints are considered to be “limited edition” and are numbered and signed by the artist or publisher. While prints can be beautiful, they lack the uniqueness and emotional value of an original artwork.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Unfortunately, logo design is not my primary focus. While I was trained as a graphic designer, my current work centers around photography and illustration. I never imagined myself studying illustration. However, my artistic journey began with studying visual communications where I learned an extensive range of skills and techniques, specifically in graphic design, photography and a bit of video editing, which came in handy later in life. Though I never started with illustration, my journey led me here. When it comes to traditional artwork, my go-to medium has always been paper. There’s something timeless and classic about putting pen to paper and creating something from scratch. Speaking of pens, that’s usually what I reach for first. I love the smooth flow of a gel pen, and how versatile they can be. Whether I’m doodling in my notebook or working on a more intricate piece, a good pen is always my trusty companion.Watercolors are a medium that I’d love to explore more. While I haven’t had as much time to practice with them as I’d like, there’s something magical about how the colors blend and flow together on the page. The process of layering different shades and bringing a picture to life in this way is truly captivating. I draw inspiration from a wide range of sources, but one of my biggest sources of creative sparks is language. I love playing with words, coming up with clever wordplay, puns or rhymes that evoke a strong sense of humor or irony. It’s amazing how a witty or well-crafted phrase, sentence or quote can set your imagination on fire and inspire you to create something that truly resonates with people.<\/p>

Of course, language can take many forms, from the lyrics of my favorite songs to the dialogue in my favorite movies or TV shows. Music, in particular, has always been a special source of inspiration for me, as certain songs or even just a lyric or two can trigger a whole chain of creative ideas.<\/p>

But what really sparks my imagination is misheard phrases or sayings that contain a hidden meaning or subtle joke that I can turn into a clever design or illustration. It’s amazing how a simple misunderstanding can lead to a completely new and unexpected idea.<\/p>

Overall, I believe that inspiration can come from anywhere and everywhere, and it’s important to keep your eyes and ears open to the world around you. Whether it’s an overheard conversation on the bus, a funny meme on social media, or a beautifully written poem, every bit of inspiration is valuable and can help you build something truly amazing.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
