When I first started my Etsy shop, it was called Banana Bird Boutique<\/strong>. At the time, I was diving headfirst into creating wordplay illustrations, and the quirky name fit my vibe. I loved the randomness of it\u2014the combination of “banana” and “bird” gave it a playful, lighthearted feel and it also translates to vrana banana in slovene which rhymes. But over time, my artistic journey evolved, and with it, my shop needed a name that truly reflected what I was now creating. That\u2019s when I decided to rebrand as Flower Cat Garden<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does Your Shop Name Really Matter?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re thinking about starting an Etsy shop or rebranding your own, you might be wondering, does the name really matter?<\/em> Honestly, I used to believe that it didn\u2019t matter all that much. I thought as long as I created art I was passionate about and put effort into building my shop, people would find me. And to some degree, that\u2019s true. But what I\u2019ve learned over time is that while your art or products are the star of the show, your shop name is the first impression people get\u2014it\u2019s the introduction to your brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More importantly, your shop name should represent what you do<\/em>. It should be catchy enough to stick in people\u2019s minds but also descriptive enough that potential customers can get a sense of what they\u2019ll find in your store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why I Chose to Change My Shop Name<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When I started Banana Bird Boutique<\/strong>, my work revolved around creating fun, quirky wordplay illustrations. I would mix and match unexpected elements and create cute, humorous designs. It was really fun, but my art began to shift in a new direction. After one of my pieces, Daisy Cat<\/strong>, blew up on Instagram, I noticed that people were drawn to my illustrations of pets that are drawn in the middle of flowers so it is not that visible from far away. I started receiving custom requests for this style of art, and soon enough, it became the core of what I do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I leaned into this new direction\u2014pets in the middle of flowers<\/strong>\u2014the name “Banana Bird Boutique” just didn\u2019t feel right anymore. It no longer represented the heart of my shop or the type of artwork I was creating. I wanted something that conveyed the dreamy, floral, and pet-inspired theme that my shop had transformed into. That\u2019s when I knew it was time to rebrand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Birth of Flower Cat Garden<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The name Flower Cat Garden<\/strong> instantly felt like the perfect fit. It\u2019s simple, descriptive, and reflects exactly what I do now: creating illustrations of cats and other pets in flowers. It\u2019s still playful and whimsical, like my original work, but it also feels more aligned with my current art style and the audience I\u2019m trying to reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only is Flower Cat Garden<\/strong> a better reflection of my brand, but it\u2019s also better for SEO (search engine optimization). The words \u201cflower\u201d and \u201ccat\u201d are keywords that people searching for pet or nature-inspired art might be typing into search engines or Etsy\u2019s own search bar. So, while naming a store might seem like a small thing, it\u2019s actually an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to growing your online presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Use words that your target audience might search for. If you\u2019re selling pet illustrations, consider including “pet” or “animal” in your name. If you create nature-themed art, think about words like “garden,” “flower,” or “forest.”<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Be Willing to Evolve<\/strong>
    It\u2019s okay to start with one name and change it later as your art or product line evolves. Don\u2019t feel locked into the first name you choose, especially if your brand takes on a new direction like mine did.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
